Bruce Rosen Analyzes the Need for NJ to have Anti-SLAPP legislation

Bruce S. Rosen‘s article, “Is it Time for New Jersey to SLAAP Back?” in the October 2020 issue of New Jersey Lawyer magazine, discusses cases known as Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (or SLAPP) actions. Bruce explains how SLAPP cases can chill public commentary and undermine First Amendment rights, and contends that New Jersey, with some of the most progressive, pro-speech case law and consumer protection laws in the country, should enact an anti-SLAPP law to protect the rights of less powerful individuals to participate in public discourse.
